Contact Anne Hill | Unforgettable Journey

Anne is the author of Unforgettable Journey: Tips to Survive Your Parent’s Alzheimer’s Disease and co-author, with Marian O. Hodges, MD, MPH of Help is Here: When Someone You Love Has Dementia. Help is Here is a notebook designed for primary care physicians to give to family caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease that is the subject of an interdisciplinary pilot study.

Together with Dr. Hodges, Anne has presented regionally to physician groups on the dynamics of improving communication between physicians and family caregivers. Anne also speaks regionally and nationally to family groups on strategies to make caring for a family member with Alzheimer’s disease easier and about communication strategies within families of those with a parent with Alzheimer’s disease as well as to the staffs at assisted living and memory care residences about how to have more effective relationships with the families of residents.

She is member of the Medical Work Group with a Focus on Research and Clinical Areas, which is a subcommittee of the State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease in Oregon (SPADO) task force. SPADO united physicians, scientists, non-profit organizations dedicated to serving those with dementia, private sector senior care providers, police agencies, family caregivers, state regulators and legislators to study and write a plan to improve Oregon’s readiness to serve people with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia and their families.

Anne practiced law for sixteen years before retiring in 1996 to care for her two young sons and, later, for her mother who had Alzheimer’s disease. She and her husband live in Portland, Oregon. She enjoys playing the piano, cooking, gardening, crossword puzzles and staying physically fit.
